Body
Foundation round: ch 5, ss in 5th ch to join.
Round 1: ch 3, 15 tr in ring ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnd 2: ch 3, 1 tr in same st, [2tr in nxt tr] to end of rnd, ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnd 3: ch 3, 2 tr in nxt st, [1 tr in nxt st, 2 tr in nxt st] to end of rnd, ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnd 4: ch 3, 1 tr in nxt st, 2 tr in nxt st, [2 tr in nxt 2 sts, 2 tr in nxt st] to end of rnd, ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnd5: ch 3, 2 tr in nxt 2 sts, 2 tr in nxt st, [3 tr in nxt 3 sts, 2 tr in nxt st] to end of rnd, ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnd 6: ch 3, 3 tr in nxt 3 sts, 2 tr in nxt st, [4 tr in nxt 4 sts, 2 tr in nxt st] to end of rnd, ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnds 7-21: ch 3, 1 tr in each st to end of rnd, ss in ch to join.
Rnd 22-5: ch 1, 1 dc in each st to end of rnd, ss in ch to join.
Rnd 26: ch 3, 1 tr in each of nxt 4 sts, [ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 tr in each of nxt 10 sts] to end of rnd, ss in 3rd ch to join.
Rnds 27-30: ch 1, 1 dc in each st to end of rnd, ss in ch to join.
Fasten off, weave in all ends.

Cord: Holding two strands together, ch length 75cm + 1 ch (for turning). Ss into 2nd ch from hook and into every ch to end of row. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Assembly: Thread the cord through the 'eyelets' created in rnd 26. The ends of the cord may be knotted together to form handles, if desired.

Granite-stitch satchel

Body
Ch 40 +1
Row 1: Dc into 2nd ch from hook, [dc in nxt st, ch1, skip 1ch] to last 2ch; ch1 skip 1 ch, dc into last ch, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Dc into 1st st, [dc into ch-space, ch1, skip 1 st] to last 2 sts of row, ch1, skip 1 st, dc into last st, ch1, turn.

Repeat row 2 until piece reaches 66cm. Fasten of and weave in all ends.

Strap + sides
Ch length 192cm + 1ch (for turning).
The strap is worked using the same stitch pattern, this time working until the strap is 3cm wide.

Assembly

• Overlap the ends of the strap by 16cm, then whip stitch the strap together.
• Place the strap 20cm from one short edge, then secure using dc.
• Using dc and working from the 'wrong side' (i.e. the side that has the strap placed on it), stitch the front and back to the strap/sides.
• Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 tr in nxt st, [1tr in 1tr, 2tr in 1tr] to the end of round. Ss to join.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 tr in nxt st, 2tr in 1tr, [2tr in 2tr, 2tr in 1tr] to the end of round. Ss to join.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 2 tr in 2tr, 2tr in 1tr, [3tr in 3tr, 2tr in 1tr] to the end of round. Ss to join.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, 3tr in 3tr, 2tr in 1tr, [4tr in 4tr, 2tr in 1tr] to the end of round of round. Ss to join.
Rnd 7: Ch 3, 1tr in 1tr to the end of round. Ss to join.
